Free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick is having a workout for NFL teams on Saturday. Quite a few teams appear to be having a scout on sight for the workout.

However, it looks as if the Carolina Panthers will not be among those teams.

Of course, a lot of people speculated the Panthers could be one of the teams most interested in Kaepernick. Cam Newton is out for the rest of the regular season. That puts their playoff hopes on Kyle Allen.

Although he's played well so far, Allen does have some fumbling problems. And his lack of NFL experience (265 career passing attempts) doesn't help calm anyone's doubts.

Behind him is Will Grier. Grier was selected in the third-round of the 2019 NFL Draft and has yet to play a snap.

So the Panthers do not really have a veteran at the position. It appears they are not looking for one though.

Kaepernick has not played since 2016. However, in that year he had 16 touchdown passes compared to just four interceptions (12 games played). He also had 468 rushing yards and two more touchdowns on 69 attempts (6.8 yards per carry).

So there's a pretty obvious reason why teams would be interested in Kaepernick. At worst, he's going to bring some excitement to an offense. He could also serve as a starter on some teams, or simply as a backup or even emergency backup (third string).

If nothing else, Kaepernick's workout on Saturday will bring in a ton of news. There are already some confirmed teams attending, and some that have announced they won't be there. Next up we will have all the talks surrounding how he performed in that workout and the interest level of teams.

Finally, we'll have the announcement of where he signed or if he got passed over. This is going to be in the news for a long time. And it appears the Panthers just were not interested in Colin Kaepernick (or any veteran quarterback according to the quote).
