The Carolina Panthers inked a four-year extension with Christian McCaffrey on Monday, making him the highest-paid running back in the NFL. Just a day after the move was made, Russell Okung shared his humorous reaction to McCaffrey's extension.

“What a talent. What a real talent,” Okung said, via Will Kunkel of FOX 46. “He is a playmaker. He makes plays all over the field.

“I heard he loves offensive linemen, so I look forward to a good Christmas gift from him.”

McCaffrey, who had two years remaining on his rookie contract, is receiving a four-year, $64 million extension from the Panthers. As a result, the former-first round is expected to make around $16 million annually. That is quite the increase from his $2.8 million salary in 2020.

In his first three seasons with the Panthers, McCaffrey has garnered 5,443 yards from scrimmage and 39 total touchdowns. The dual-threat running back has also hauled in 303 receptions in that span. Besides Michael Thomas, McCaffrey is the only player in NFL history to have 300 receptions in his first three years.

Just this past season alone, McCaffrey was close to surpassing Chris Johnson's single-season record for yards from scrimmage. While the Panthers finished with a 5-11 record, McCaffrey led the charge with a career-high 2,392 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns in 2019.

For Okung, he's excited to get the opportunity to play with a talent like McCaffrey in the backfield. At the same time, he's anxious to see what McCaffrey gets all of the offensive linemen during the holiday season, considering he's going to be a bit wealthier in the future.
