The Miami Heat have endured a pretty interesting offseason. A lot of people would not exactly describe their summer as a success.

Although Miami was able to retain center Hassan Whiteside, they lost out on big fish Kevin Durant and regrettably let “Heat Lifer” Dwyane Wade leave for the Chicago Bulls. The Heat also lost small forward Luol Deng, matched guard Tyler Johnson's large offer sheet from the Brooklyn Nets, and they do not know whether or not Chris Bosh will be able to play anytime soon.

With such a rocky offseason, the Heat would be expected to bring in as much talent as they can, as soon as possible. But, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, this is not the case:

Instead, the Heat and Pat Riley have elected to hold onto that exception for the winter months. This being a smart move is certainly in question.

It appears the Heat will be relying heavily on young players like Josh Richardson, Justise Winslow, and Tyler Johnson to put them into a winning position come February.

Without Chris Bosh, it is hard to imagine the Heat being a playoff team this year, or at least one capable of making a run. At this point, many are starting to question Riley's ability to build up this Heat team, but he has done it in the past and if anyone doubts him, he can let his rings do the talking.
