3-time Super Bowl winner David Patten has tragically passed away. The former New England Patriots wide receiver was 47 years old.
The news comes as an absolute shock to the NFL world. His former All-Pro teammate Richard Seymour sent out a heartfelt reaction upon hearing about Patten's passing.

David Patten had many great moments in the NFL. His most iconic will always be his catch in Patriots' first Super Bowl victory with Tom Brady at the helm back in 2002. In that game, Patten collected eight catches for 107 yards, including what turned out to be their only offensive TB in a razor-sharp 20-17 affair against the St. Louis Rams.

While there's still no clear confirmation on what led to David Patten's death, one tweet from his cousin indicates that it was reportedly from a motorcycle accident.
This week has sucked first my grandma passed now I hear my cousin David Patten passed last night in a motorcycle accident. David was a super bowl winning receiver for the Patriots during their first title run. He was always so good to me when I came and watched him play. R.I.P

David Patten had his most successful stint in the NFL with the Patriots. Aside from the Super Bowl rings, he tallied over 2500 receiving yards in four seasons, including some massive ones in the playoffs.
He also had stints with the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Washington Football Team, and the New Orleans Saints before calling it a career after the 2008 NFL season at the age of 34.
Our prayers go out to David Patten and his family.
