The New England Patriots released Antonio Brown on Friday after just one game, but if the Patriots win the Super Bowl, he will still get a ring, according to Allan Bell of CBS Sports.

Brown suited up for the Patriots' 43-0 win over the Miami Dolphins last Sunday, catching four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.

New England signed the wide receiver almost immediately after the Oakland Raiders released him just before Week 1. Brown was not eligible to play in Week 1.

What the Pats did not know when they added Brown was that he had been hit with rape allegations by his former trainer, Britney Taylor, who claimed that Brown sexually assaulted her on three separate occasions, including forcible rape in 2018.

After Taylor's report surfaced, Robert Klemko of Sports Illustrated published an article mentioning another woman who accused Brown of sexual misconduct in 2017.

On Thursday, the woman said she had received threatening text messages from Brown, per Klemko, and showed screenshots of the messages, which included photos of her and her children.

The messages came from the same number Brown gave the woman two years ago and were part of a group chat in which Brown was asking other individuals for information about the woman.

Brown was traded to the Raiders from the Pittsburgh Steelers back in March, but a series of incidents that ultimately led to Oakland voiding the $30 million in guaranteed money on Brown's contract caused Brown to ask for his release.

The 31-year-old is a seven-time Pro Bowler.
