The shootout between the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs was undoubtedly one of the most spectacular games of the 2018 NFL season. However, it appears New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had other plans on Monday night.

There was plenty of buzz surrounding the matchup, and the outcome certainly followed through on the hype. According to Ryan Hannable of WEEI, though, Belichick spent the night focusing on New England's matchup versus the New York Jets:

Belichick said he saw some of the Chiefs-Rams game Monday night. Was asked his takeaway: “We have the Jets. That's my takeaway.”

Belichick's comments should come as no surprise. He is notorious for playing coy when it comes to other teams. He solidified that notion by opting not to comment on the showdown. Regardless, it is safe to assume Belichick is already in the midst of breaking down the entire game. After all, it featured two teams that could legitimately end the Patriots' championship hopes this season.

New England already managed to defeat Kansas City back in Week 6. However, they have still shown plenty of promise as a bona fide contender since then. This year's Chiefs team has managed to avoid their annual midseason slump. As a result, they have been pegged as a favorite to make the AFC Championship Game.

Meanwhile, the Rams have proven to be an even bigger threat to their chances at a title thanks to a star-studded rosters, though they have proven to be somewhat vulnerable on defense as well.

Bill Belichick has built his career on being prepared for any situation, so it is not far-fetched to assume he already has the game tape.
