Hall explains how, after playing a half-season with the Redskins in 2008, he had the option to sign a short-term deal with the New England Patriots—then a three-time Super Bowl champion franchise. Hall mentions Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss recently signed a three-year contract with the franchise, quarterbacked by star Tom Brady, and the cornerback seriously discussed joining the Pats during a breakdown in negotiations with Washington.
Hall, the eighth overall selection of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech by the Atlanta Falcons, spent four seasons in the Georgia state capital, twice earning Pro Bowl honors. In the offseason prior to the 2008 season, he was traded to the Oakland Raiders, where he was later released and signed a one-year deal with Washington.
Instead of signing with the Patriots, Hall instead decided to stick it out with the Redskins, inking a six-year contract to stay in D.C. During the 2010 season, Hall etched his name in the history books by tying an NFL record for the most interceptions in a single game with four total against the Chicago Bears on Oct. 24.
For Hall, and many others, what could have happened with the Patriots is just another regret and lost adventure that never happened.
