Eric Decker and Josh McDaniels are reunited on the New England Patriots and both sides seem excited to be getting the chance to work together. McDaniels was on the Denver Broncos when they drafted Eric Decker out of the University of Minnesota and although the two didn't exactly find success during their time together they both have had nice careers since that point.

After practice on Tuesday Decker was asked about McDaniels and he had nothing but good things to say about him including calling him the smartest football coach he has had in his career.

“Josh drafted me in Denver, gave me an opportunity,” Decker said via CBS Boston. “Obviously I’ve got all the respect for him. Probably the smartest football coach I think I’ve had in my career. Guy knows his X’s and O’s, he’s good with relationships, good as far as getting things going offensively. So it’s been fun being back with him.”

A big reason that Decker got a chance with the Patriots is his familiarity with McDaniels and he sees a lot of similarity in this playbook and the first one he saw when he came into the league with the Patriots.

“There’s obviously things that change over time, but there’s some carryover that I was able to take and quickly learn,” said the 31-year-old. “And then there’s a lot of new stuff too that I’ve got to catch up on and get ready to go.”

Decker is a bit behind learning the playoff but he still feels comfortable and has been really impressed with what Tom Brady has brought to the field saying he is “as advertised.” Decker isn't a lock to make the team but he has a really nice shot too.
