How cool would it be to be able to say that you own a Super Bowl ring? And how much cooler would it be to say you own one from New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady? But since Brady doesn’t sell things like that, how about one of his friends and family Super Bowl rings?

Yes, they exist— and someone recently spent $344,927 at an auction to acquire one.

According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, players from teams that win the Super Bowl can give the okay for their friends and family to buy a version of their Super Bowl ring. It’s not going to contain the number of diamonds or be as big as the real deal. But they are undoubtedly still very impressive.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell recently reported on the sale and described the ring. The rings the players received had 283 diamonds; this one has 260-265 (depending on which report you read). It was ten percent smaller but otherwise looked just like Brady’s.

It was valued at $29,700. Someone paid over $344,000. It is probably safe to say whoever it is must be a really, really big fan of Brady.

“This is the first Brady award that has ever come to market,” Ken Goldin of Goldin Auctions said via ABC News back in January when the ring went on the block. “He never lets things go, and nobody from his inner circle has ever given up something like this.”

To put the ridiculousness of the price paid for the ring into perspective, according to Rovell, the record price for a real Super Bowl ring at auction is $230,401 (Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl XXV ring).
