Over the last few months, there's been a lot speculation about what the immediate future holds for the New England Patriots. The rumors have varied from Bill Belichick wanting out, Rob Gronkowski strongly considering retirement, and now if Tom Brady is committed to playing next season.

Although it seems to be a stretch that Brady wouldn't play next season, there's no telling what may happen in New England at this point. Gronkowski still hasn't made his plans known and there appears to be some mystery surrounding Brady's intentions. Brady currently isn't in attendance for the team's offseason program and running back James White was asked about his quarterback's situation, via Pro Football Talk.

“I mean it’s not really my position to comment on that, but he’s a guy that’s had a lot of success in this league and he knows what he’s doing. So it’s not really my position to comment on his situation,” White said in comments distributed by the team.

Ultimately, Brady will likely return to the Patriots and continue his storied NFL career in New England while keeping the franchise afloat as a legitimate Super Bowl title contender for the foreseeable future.

In the meantime, the speculation and rumors will continue swirling until the five-time Super Bowl champion makes a statement about his future. The same goes for Gronkowski with it seeming much more likely that the All-Pro tight end will call it a career before Brady decides to.

It remains to be seen how things pan out in New England with a lot of time left before the start of the 2018 NFL season in which anything can happen.
