The New England Patriots made the huge acquisition of star wide receiver Josh Gordon from the Cleveland Browns on Monday afternoon.

Beyond this being a monumental move for the Patriots' passing game, Gordon has an opportunity to grab his first win on a football field in nearly four years, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

It has been quite some time since Gordon has been part of a win in the NFL, dating back to his previous stint in the league prior to being suspended for nearly three years for violating the league's substance-abuse policy twice.

Before he was inactive for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints, Gordon had played in the last six games for the Browns, going back to the tail end of the 2017 regular season. It's been a long time since he's been able to relish in helping push his team to a win, which could quickly change with the Patriots.

New England has been the standard bearer in the NFL for nearly the last two decades, with eight trips to the Super Bowl and five wins on that stage. The franchise has won the AFC East in 15 out of the last 17 seasons, with double-digit wins in all but one campaign over that span.

Gordon has a chance to help continue that trajectory this year, as the Patriots are hoping he can step in as a major part of their offense with the potential of becoming a top target alongside Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Julian Edelman once he returns from his four-game suspension in Week 5.
