Despite losing Tom Brady in free agency, there is still a lot to be excited about with the New England Patriots. But what is the most exciting part of the newly revamped team? Julian Edelman may have the answer.

“I’m really excited. Each year, there’s always something,” the Patriots star said, per NESN. “And, you get to sit back and be reminded, through the times we’re going through right now, a lot of people are struggling in a lot of different situations. And, it gives you a second to realize how blessed and fortunate you are as a person to get to go out and play the game you love, that you’ve been playing since you were a little kid, for work.

“So, I’m excited. I’m excited to see what our team transforms to be. And I’m excited to be the start point. It’s going to be a fun year.”

While not quite the answer you would expect — like being excited about the addition of Cam Newton or seeing how the Patriots fare without their franchise quarterback — it's a very wise and reflective answer from Julian Edelman at this moment in history.

With the pandemic and all of the civil unrest going on in the country today, it has given players time to reflect on just how lucky they are to get paid millions of dollars to play the sport they love.

Edelman does also mention being excited about what the team will transform into with a new signal caller, and as the season progresses, the thoughts will certainly turn to the field. Right now, however, the Patriots wide receivers seems to just be thankful and excited that football is even being played in 2020 — and that is something everyone can agree on.
