The New England Patriots gave up on the Cam Newton experiment and released him, turning to rookie Mac Jones as Bill Belichick's new quarterback. The release was a bit of a surprise by everybody, and some of Newton's teammates opened up about his time with the team.

Patriots running back James White was one player who touched on the release of Newton, according to Michael Giardi of NFL Network.

Surely there are others who feel the same way as James White, but the time had apparently come for New England to move on from the veteran after just one season in town.

Center David Andrews also touched on the release of the former Carolina Panthers signal-caller and went on to praise Jones in the process.

Cam Newton's tenure in New England will be a strange one, and he had the tough task of playing successor to Tom Brady, who left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won a Super Bowl in his first season away from New England.

Now they will turn to Mac Jones to try and get them back to the playoffs, and Week 1 is against the Miami Dolphins as former Crimson Tide teammates Mac Jones and Tua Tagovailoa are set to battle in a big AFC East divisional game.
