New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski's status for the team’s Thursday night matchup against the Indianapolis Colts is still in the balance. Gronk did not participate in practice on Tuesday due to his lingering ankle injury, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.

Gronkowski has been dealing with the ankle issue since before their Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions. However, he has still been able to play in the Patriots’ last two games against the Lions and the Miami Dolphins.

Moreover, a recent report suggests the injury is not serious and that he could still play against the Colts despite the relatively quick turnaround. The Patriots might just be taking extra precaution by keeping him out of practice.

Gronkowski currently leads the team with 233 receiving yards and is second with 17 receptions. He had four catches for 44 yards in their 38-7 demolition of the Dolphins on Sunday. Although, he had to leave early due to his ankle.

James White, Phillip Dorsett, and Cordarrelle Patterson did most of the damage for the Patriots in the passing game with Gronk not at full capacity.

The Patriots’ receiving corps saw the debut of Josh Gordon against the Dolphins. They will also get Julian Edelman back against the Colts for his first game back following his four-game suspension for violation of the league’s performance-enhancing substance policy.

Having both Gordon and Edelman in the lineup will significantly boost the Patriots passing game. With those two, White, Dorsett, and Patterson, the Pats should still have enough offensive weapons to call upon against the Colts.
