Many have held out hope that Rob Gronkowski would decide to come out of retirement and rejoin the New England Patriots, but his latest comments have made it clear that won't be happening.

Gronkowski made an appearance on WEEI's “The Greg Hill Show” on Tuesday and was asked by a caller for a yes or no answer about if he had plans to come back:

“I'll give an answer,” Gronkowski said, via NBC Sports Boston. “When I retired, I retired for a reason: because I needed to step away. So it would be a no. There it is.”

Gronkowski said he hasn't said no a ton because whenever he does no one believes him, so it's pointless to keep saying no:

“I never say no, because I've said no, and everyone's like, ‘Yeah, he's kidding. He's coming back,' ” Gronkowski said. “But it's a no. In my mind, that's how it is. It's a no.”

He also said he has no itch to play the game and is very satisfied with how his life is going right now:

“No, man. I'm very satisfied where I'm at,” he said. “I say it all the time: I would have never left the game if I was going to be itching every single day. I've said that before, many times.

“I had those thoughts, too. ‘Would I be missing it?' And I just knew that it needed to be done. I'm very satisfied where I'm at.”

Rob Gronkowski is currently an analyst on FOX Sports' Sunday pregame show, and that is taking up his time. It also keeps him close to the game without having to take the bumps and bruises he was dealing with playing tight end for the Patriots.
