New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore is apparently not a fan of Jacksonville Jaguars Jalen Ramsey’s outspoken style.

In a recent radio spot, Gilmore was asked about the trash-talking All-Pro after his most recent war of words with the Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill. He replied that it wasn’t his style, but he ironically added a little zinger that’s likely to reach Ramsey’s ears one way or another.

“A lot of guys that talk are mostly zone guys, so they have a lot of energy to do that,” said Gilmore during his interview with 98.5 The Sports Hub's Zolak & Bertrand on Wednesday.

Being called a “zone guy” is pretty much a slap in the face for an NFL cornerback. It was one of the insults Saints wideout Michael Thomas threw at Redskins corner Josh Norman during their recent Twitter tiff.

Obviously, Ramsey is a lot better than a mere zone corner. Despite his overactive mouth, he’s an All-Pro corner on merit and is one of the best in the game.

But Gilmore is pretty good in his own right, and he does it without resorting to the over-the-top trash talk with opponents that Ramsey has made his trademark at this point in his young career.

There’s no doubt that Ramsey will not resist the urge to respond to Gilmore’s little barb the first chance he gets. But since the Jaguars and Patriots have already played in the regular season, he may have to wait until a potential postseason rematch to confront Gilmore about his pointed comments.
