“Oh no, the New England Patriots dynasty is coming to a screeching halt.” That is the likely headline in some tabloids after the latest run-in between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
According to Dov Kleiman, an independent reporter, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick got into an argument in practice on Sunday. The incident occurred while the Patriots were running a drill in practice.
During the drill, Brady handed the ball off to James White after Belichick specifically told him not to run the ball. The longtime head coach didn't hold back as he yelled some expletives at Brady and the quarterback responded back.
This season, Brady and Belichick are entering their 20th season together. Over that span, New England has won six Super Bowls and have won 30 playoff games. There's no doubt that the Patriots have built arguably the best dynasty in sports history.
Despite that being true, along with all of the good times, there are going to be some rough patches. That's with any relationship—especially one that has lasted 20 seasons. Everyone would be naive to think that everything is always kosher behind closed doors in any organization.
These incidents occur for every team but since it's the Patriots, it will likely be a small story for a second and disappear. Regardless, New England will block out the noise and keep their eyes on the prize. That is to win their seventh Super Bowl in franchise history.
As the media focuses on meaningless arguments, the Patriots will be counting down the days until the regular season begins.
