The New England Patriots are coming off a dominant 38-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins, but Tom Brady is excited about how much better the team will be with Julian Edelman. Brady and Edelman have been a dangerous duo over the years.

Edelman has been a part of two Patriots Super Bowl teams. The last time he suited up for the team was in the 2016-17 season. He recorded 98 receptions for 1,107 receiving yards and three touchdowns that season. Edelman received a four-game suspension for a PED (performance enhancing drugs) violation earlier this season. His suspension lasted for four games, so he will be active against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5.

In his weekly appearance on WEEI’s “Kirk & Callahan,” per Boston.com:

“I know he was itching to go and he wants to get down there and show everyone that he’s ready to go,” said Brady about the 32-year-old receiver. “He’s in that James White mode where he’s just so dependable and consistent and tough. He hasn’t been out there in a while. The ACL last year was a tough injury, to miss all season and to miss these first four weeks, I know he’s itching to get back out there.”

Julian Edelman has a lot of value. He can be a traditional wideout, play in the slot, carry the ball and be a return man. His versatility will work well with the newly acquired Josh Gordon and Rob Gronkowski. Gordon is still becoming accustomed to the new system, and Gronk just can't do it on his own.

The Patriots have made use of their running backs as receivers more than ever. James White benefited most from this last week, as he recorded both a rushing and receiving touchdown against the Dolphins.

A more complete Patriots offense might be just over the horizon.
