The New England Patriots have had no problems putting up points en route to a 3-0 start. Tom Brady has continued to play like one of the league's best quarterbacks at age 42, too, throwing for 911 yards, seven touchdowns, and no interceptions while completing 67.9 percent of his throws. Clearly, the Patriots' passing game hasn't had much trouble adjusting to life without retired tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Just because Brady and his receivers are off to a stellar start, though, hardly means they're a finished product. And if New England's aerial attack is to reach its potential, Brady seems to believe the development of Phillip Dorsett will be one of the biggest reasons why.

“He’s done a great job for us and he’s making a lot of plays for us, we put him all over the field, and [he] just continues to improve,” he said of Dorsett on Thursday, per Patriots Wire's Henry McKenna. “I think this has been a big year for Phil. He’s worked really hard, put himself in a great position to take advantage of his opportunities, and he’s certainly done it. So, everyone’s happy for Phil. Nobody deserves it more than him, and he’s going to need to keep doing it.”

Dorsett wasn't supposed to be a major factor for the Patriots this season, especially after they added Antonio Brown just before Week 1. But his importance has reached a new level in the wake of Brown's release and the recent trade of veteran wideout Demaryius Thomas.

Dorsett, a fifth-year pro, has 13 catches for 187 yards and a team-leading three touchdowns so far this season.
