Tom Brady will apparently look a little different during his 20th NFL campaign. According to NFL Network's Michael Giardi, the New England Patriots superstar plans on bulking up for the 2019 season in hopes of avoiding the weight loss that plagued him a year ago.

“He wants to get to 232, 233 pounds to start the season because he felt like he lost a little too much weight and strength as last year progressed,” Giardi said of Brady, per NESN. “Brady, constantly tinkering with that workout, feels like he’s going to maintain that pliability, but he wants to start at a little bit of a higher point.”

Brady, 6-foot-4, has been listed at 225 pounds throughout his legendary career. He famously avoids heavy resistance and weight training, instead favoring band work and pliability exercises to maintain flexibility and functional strength without putting too much stress on his joints. Though nearly two decades of on-field results suggest that approach is working, Brady took some flak before last season when a shirtless photo of him at the beach surfaced, leading many to wonder why the future Hall of Famer so sorely lacked the muscle tone one typically associates with professional athletes.

At 41 years, Brady isn't quite near his playing peak, but still has a claim as the most valuable player in all of football. After a solid regular season in 2018, he made countless huge throws in the playoffs en route to a record sixth Super Bowl win, including completing multiple third-and-longs during the fourth quarter and overtime of the Patriots' thrilling overtime win against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
