The New England Patriots suffered some crucial losses this offseason. Among the most notable was the departure of left tackle Nate Solder to the New York Giants.

Fortunately, it appears they already have an idea of Solder's replacement. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, left tackle Trent Brown is currently No. 1 on the depth chart:

Six-foot, eight-inch Trent Brown, officially weighing 380 pounds, appears on the first depth chart of the preseason as the starting left tackle. If Brown keeps that assignment, he’ll be the Week One successor to Nate Solder, who signed as a free agent with the Giants.

It is encouraging to see New England has found a viable option to take Solder's place. Needless to say, Brown looks every bit the part of a legitimate left tackle and he has the experience to back it up.

The former Florida product was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Brown began his career as a backup before firmly establishing a role on the offensive line. He even made headlines after receiving some heavy praise from Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller. This could be a good thing for quarterback Tom Brady given Miller's affinity for sacking him.

Regardless, there is no question that Brady's health is of utmost importance for the Patriots if they have any desire to make a third consecutive Super Bowl appearance. Brown has some big shoes to fill, however, it appears he is already off to a solid start.
