Former New England Patriots cornerback Ty Law will be officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame next month, and when he does, he’ll be presented by a longtime friend.

According to a report from ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Law will be presented by longtime friend Byron “Book” Washington, who Law says is like a brother to him.

“My best friend in the world, like a biological twin brother, from when we were 1 year old,” Law said. “We grew up across the street from one another. Any experience that I had, closer to anyone in my life, he knows everything — all the good, where all the bones are buried. That's my guy through thick and thin.

“If my grandfather was alive and here, it would be a no-brainer, as far as the impact in my life, but I couldn't think of anyone else who knows me like Byron does.”

According to Reiss, Law and Washington both grew up together in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and played on the same football teams as they grew up.

The pair never broke away from each other, and Washington even relocated to Ann Arbor to move in with Law during Law’s time in Michigan.

According to Law, the two dreamed of playing in the NFL and making it into the Hall of Fame when they grew up, and with Law actually making that dream a reality, he wants Washington to be the one who helps induct him.

“It's like we share the same blood,” Law said, “because we share the same thoughts.”

The Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set for August 3.
