For the first time in his career, veteran wide receiver Julian Edelman will line up with a different quarterback helming the New England Patriots. But it seems that the 34-year-old Patriot lifer is still in tremendous shape heading into his 11th season:

As you can see, Edelman starts off with some crisp route running, but then turns his attention to dexterity work. This workout is rather impressive to look at – if a little gimmicky – as Edelman clutches playing cards thrown at him in mid-air, using his swift reflexes to pluck the cards out of the air much like a frog’s tongue catches unsuspecting flies.

The 2020 seasons will surely make for an interesting and exploratory one for Edelman and the Patriots, as the team is expected to be subpar due to the fact that franchise talisman Brady signed southward in Tampa Bay to play for the Buccaneers.

No matter where Brady plays, Edelman’s importance to the Patriots franchise cannot be understated. Though never flashy, Edelman’s skills almost always made him a mammoth threat when the playoffs rolled around – helping lead the Pats to 3 Super Bowl wins during his time in Foxborough.

In his 19 playoff games with the Patriots, Edelman has amassed 1442 yards and five touchdowns – all of which were critical to his team’s success in the most important games of the season.

In the team’s three Super Bowl-winning seasons, Edelman compiled over 1000 yards total (1011 yards) in only 9 games played – a staggering feat showcasing the veteran’s importance to the team in the highest-stakes minutes of the season.
