New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry says all 20 players of the training camp roster are already at the team’s facility for voluntary workouts.

It’s the first time Gentry can remember anything like it during his time in New Orleans.

The vibe around the Pelicans has been very positive ever since David Griffin was hired as the new executive vice president of basketball operations.

Griffin and the Pelicans had a tremendous summer. The former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager got a massive haul from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Anthony Davis trade, acquiring Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram and three first round picks. Griffin also traded for Derrick Favors from the Utah Jazz and signed JJ Redick in free agency.

The arrival of Zion Williamson was obviously the biggest move of the summer for the Pelicans, who will likely start Jrue Holiday, Redick, Ingram, Williamson and Favors in 2019-20. Ball, Hart, rookie Jaxson Hayes and veteran E’Twaun Moore will anchor the bench.

The Pelicans have good depth at each position, so Alvin Gentry will have multiple lineups to use throughout the regular season. New Orleans will go as far as Holiday and Williamson can take them. In a tough Western Conference, the Pelicans figure to compete for one of the lower seed playoff spots.
