The New Orleans Pelicans have railed eight wins in a row and catapulted to the fourth spot in the Western Conference despite their struggles to hang on to a chance to make the playoffs after DeMarcus Cousins went down to a ruptured Achilles injury.

The Pels are in a close race with the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves, who follow at fifth and sixth place with more wins, but a lesser winning percentage.

New Orleans has benefitted from a rampant month of February from Anthony Davis, who has stepped up his game in hopes to lead this team to the promise land, now counting with the help of Nikola Mirotic, who was acquired prior to the trade deadline.

The All-Star forward has been encouraged by the progress the team has made even after the All-Star break and is confident while riding this season-high streak.

“Even if it’s four games or the Rockets’ 14 games, (the opponent) always wants to be the team to end the streak,” said Davis, according to Jim Eichenhofer of NBA.com. “Your focus has to be at an ultimate high every game. We’re playing with a lot of confidence, just having fun and enjoying the process.”

The Brow has also been aided by the leadership of the team's offseason acquisition, Rajon Rondo, who has been assertive with his demands from the high-scoring forward.

“He’s helping me and Jrue (Holiday) through the whole process, telling us, ‘Look, AD, you’ve got to go get 50, and Jrue you’ve got to get 30’ every night,” said Davis. “It’s just the mindset that we have to go out there, be aggressive and help the team win.”
