Anthony Davis is easily one of the best players in the NBA. Standing at 6 feet and 10 inches, Davis is a modern power forward who can dominate the paint and shoot with range. However, since the Pelicans drafted Davis with the first pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Pelicans haven't achieved much success.

There are always rumors at the end of the season and near the trade deadline that Davis would like to leave to join a contender, and that the Pelicans should shop him. Davis quickly shot down those rumors on Thursday, stating that he plans on staying in New Orleans next year and through 2021, per William Guillotine of NOLA.com.

“Of course, I feel like we've had a strong year this year before (Cousins) got hurt. I feel like we had a lot that we could've accomplished,” Davis said. “I'm here until 2021 and then we'll make a decision from there. I don't plan on leaving in the next couple of years or anything like that.

“I've always said I wanted to be here, and that's still true. … When my contract is up, I'll think about what I want to do. But right now, I want to play for New Orleans.”

This is obviously good news for Pelicans fans and the entire organization, hearing that their star player is committed to staying and working towards their championship aspirations. However, organizations usually don't share the same loyalty in the long run and will do what they believe will help the team immediately, long-term, or both. A lot can change between now and 2021 when
