New Orleans Pelicans superstar power forward Anthony Davis is going to play real minutes for the franchise for the rest of the season and won't get benched after playing for a minute or two, according to Scott Kushner of The Advocate.
There will be ramifications and fines from the Commissioner’s office if the Pelicans shut down a healthy player for the rest of the season.
This is a huge risk by the Pelicans, but it looks like they had to do this to avoid getting in trouble with NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
Everyone knows Anthony Davis is going to be traded in the offseason. If he were to get seriously hurt, though, this situation is going to take a very ugly turn. Davis has requested a trade from the Pelicans. The franchise decided not to move him at the trade deadline. It looks like the right decision now since New Orleans can talk with the Boston Celtics in the summer, but again, if Davis gets hurt, the Pelicans will be in big trouble.
Anthony Davis is a superstar, but he's also very fragile. He's never played in 82 games during a season and always has some type of nagging ailment plaguing him. Maybe the Pelicans can take a page out of Jimmy Butler's book by resting Davis here and there due to “general soreness.”
