With their win against the L.A. Clippers, the New Orleans Pelicans are 3-0 to start off the season. This is the franchise's best start since 2010.

In their win against the Clippers, Anthony Davis led the way with 34 points, 13 rebounds, and five blocks. It seems that he's already making an early campaign for league MVP — a category he's regularly been included in for the past several years.

Elfrid Payton also chipped in 20 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Frontliners Nikola Mirotić and Julius Randle both handed in 18 points.

The Pelicans are considered as one of the emerging teams in the competitive Western Conference. As a franchise, they've been through ups and downs over the past couple of years. They've been in and out of the playoffs but in last season's campaign, they upset the third-seeded Portland Trail Blazers in a defensive showcase that ended up in a four-game sweep.

Though they eventually met a roadblock by way of the powerhouse Golden State Warriors, it can still be considered a successful season for the Pelicans. Now, they have new and emerging players in Randle, Payton, and Mirotić. Jrue Holiday, too, provides a steady presence on the defensive end of the floor.

The season is young and they have yet to face much stronger foes.  With a strong start, the challenge now for the Pelicans is how to maintain the momentum.
