The Milwaukee Bucks and the L.A. Clippers are among the shortlist of teams that New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis would be willing to re-sign with, along with the previously reported potential to wind up with the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The pathway to make something happen with the Bucks, however, is extremely difficult, making that a rather unlikely event to pair Giannis Antetokounmpo with Davis in the near future, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Knicks are also unlikely to make this work after trading their lone biggest asset in Kristaps Porzingis, making it only a matter of a potential free agency destination, having cleared two max-level spots in the trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

The prized big man recently gave the Pelicans a “handful” of teams he'd be willing to re-sign with once he can opt out of his contract, though he is unwilling to sign a contract extension with any of them this upcoming summer. A list which excluded the Boston Celtics.

With only three days left before the trade deadline hits, this shortlist of teams would only entice the aforementioned suitors to make a strong offer for Davis before the Celtics can hop onto the race in the summer, as the Pelicans will show Davis nothing but the door, hoping to look out for the best interest of the franchise.

The Celtics boast the most ready-made and future assets available in any trade scenario, a reason why the Pelicans could opt to wait until the summer to trade their prized talisman in hopes of the best possible return.

The Lakers and the Clippers could be in a tug of war for Davis as the second-best package available to the Pelicans, a war that could decide which of the two Angeleno teams gets to keep this top-five talent for years to come.
