The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to re-sign forward Darius Miller to a two-year, $14.25 million contract, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The second year of his deal will be non-guaranteed.

The Pelicans have been intent in retaining their shooting after adding longtime marksman JJ Redick as their first free agent get of the summer.

Miller put up 8.1 points, 2.1 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game last season, shooting only 39% from the floor but a decent 36.5% from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-8 forward has played his entire five-year career in The Big Easy, yet his breakout season came in 2017-18, when he averaged 7.8 points per game while shooting a respectable 44.4% from the floor and a career-best 41.1% from 3.

New Orleans will need plenty of shooting after landing No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson, who is still a suspect perimeter shooter, doing most of his damage around and above the rim.

Surrounding their prized gem with shooters like Redick and Miller, along with capable shotmakers like Jrue Holiday, should prove to be a decent formula for a rebuilding team that might surprise a few teams in a loaded Western Conference.

Miller is more than likely willing to be on himself, as the next year of his deal will largely hinge on his shotmaking ability and contributions to the team.

If successful, this could prove an excellent grab for the No. 46 overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft.
