As if NBA players needed another reason to hate the NCAA, president Mark Emmert decided not to give winter athletes an extra year of eligibility. COVID-19 forced the NCAA to cancel its season, but New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Josh Hart believes the NCAA should have at least given its student-athletes another year.

The NCAA doesn't pay its players, yet it profits off them. This is the reason why guys like LaMelo Ball and R.J. Hampton decided to play overseas instead of going to the NCAA.

Before the NBA suspended the 2019-20 season due to COVID-19, Josh Hart and the Pelicans were in 10th place in the Western Conference standings. New Orleans had a record of 28-36.

Hart, who played his college ball at Villanova, was averaging 10.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in his first season with the Pelicans. The 25-year-old was shooting 41.6 percent from the field, 34.2 percent from beyond the arc and 74.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The NCAA always seems to make the wrong move when it comes to the “care” of its athletes. Luckily for Hart, he's in the NBA now and doesn't have to worry about not having money to pay for a meal for example.

The Pelicans were 3.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West standings prior to the season getting suspended.
