Although they're no longer teammates, New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday is staying connected with Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis.

Holiday has been working with AD this summer, proving that there are no hard feelings between them even after the latter's trade to the Lakers. In an interview with The Athletic's William Guillory, Holiday said his friendship with Davis is “way bigger than basketball.”

When the Pelicans acquired Holiday via trade in 2013, his primary goal was to help AD take his game to the next level. That happened, as Davis became one of the best players in the league. Holiday, on the other hand, developed into the secondary option on offense. Unfortunately for them, the Pelicans only reached the playoffs twice during their six years of playing together.

When Davis realized it was time for him to move on and find a team that could better help him win a championship, Holiday didn't feel bad. He supported his friend throughout the process, and even now, he's still helping AD improve his game.

But while Davis is focused on winning a championship with the Lakers, Holiday is in the same situation he was in 2013. He's again the veteran tasked to help the young guys on the Pelicans realize their full potential.

The Pelicans have Zion Williamson, the first overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, as well as former lottery picks Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Jahlil Okafor. Holiday will be tasked to work with these guys not only this summer but also throughout the course of the season as they embark on another journey that hopefully leads them to a championship in the near future.

It won't be easy, though, as the Pelicans could face AD and the Lakers if they make the playoffs this upcoming season or beyond. But one thing's for sure, while Holiday might be competing with Davis on the court from now on, they will continue to be friends.
