The New Orleans Pelicans got some disappointing news once again. According to Shams Charania, he reported that Zion Williamson is continuing to experience soreness in his surgically repaired right foot and is likely to be shut down from any basketball activity in the near future.

It is questionable how much longer this is going to take but it is definitely not a good sign for the Pelicans and Zion's future that he has not yet recovered from this injury. In his short time in the league, he has proven to be arguably a top 25 player as he has already averaged 25.7 points and seven rebounds in his young career.

There is a possibility that Zion is being extra safe because he is not interested in returning it to the Pelicans. Although it is just the start of the season, they have one of the worst records in basketball through the first two months and have little to no chance of making the playoffs. A player that young might not feel the need to risk his injury and that is potentially what Zion is doing.

There were rumors last summer that Zion was not enjoying his experience in New Orleans. It is unclear if there's going to be a trade anytime soon, but first, he must get healthy. The photos that have surfaced on the internet at his current weight are not promising. His weight could definitely be a reason for him not getting up to speed quick enough.

The Pelicans surely miss him. They are 8-20 on the season and have found little to no success so far.
