Gone are the days when haters slammed Lonzo Ball for his funky jump shot. Against Golden State Warriors forward Kent Bazemore on Tuesday, the New Orleans Pelicans guard hit a nifty step-back jumper in the clutch.

In a tied game with less than 30 seconds on the clock, Ball took matters into his own hands by draining a smooth bucket over Bazemore. It broke the tie in what was a close game all throughout and eventually guided the Pelicans to a 108-103 victory.

Ball, who finished with 33 points, has been praised for the remarkable improvement in his jump shot. In his first two years in the NBA, Ball had this funky form which pretty much limited what type of shots he could take. But year by year, the former UCLA standout corrected his shooting stroke. His jump shot not only looks better now, but it has also become Ball's most effective offensive weapon.

Lonzo Ball’s stats have improved since recalibrating his form, averaging career-highs of 14.5 points and 42.4 percent shooting from the field.

From the looks of it, his new and improved shot has given Ball loads of confidence. While he has been praised for his playmaking, some have criticized him for overdoing it. There have been instances when he was wide-open for a jumper or even a lay-up yet he opted to pass the ball.

And so the clutch shot over the Warriors is a clear display of how Ball's belief in his jumper has trickled over to other facets of the game. Ball has many more games to play. But we can say that the clutch gene is buried deep within him.
