Joe Dumars, Isiah Thomas, and Avery Johnson are reportedly on the list to get the permanent general manager job for the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Marc J. Spears of ESPN.

The Pelicans fired Dell Demps on Friday and named Danny Ferry as the interim general manager. New Orleans is going to search for a permanent general manager starting now, and the search will likely go into the summer.

Dumars was an executive with the Detroit Pistons from 2000-14. He won Executive of the Year in 2003.

Thomas was an executive with the Toronto Raptors from 1994-97 and then joined the New York Knicks' front office in 2003. He stayed in New York for five years.

Johnson was an NBA head coach with the Dallas Mavericks and Nets. He doesn't have any front office experience. The 53-year-old is currently the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team.

Whoever gets the job in New Orleans is going to be tasked with trading superstar big man Anthony Davis in the summer. The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly offered the Pelicans a Godfather offer for Davis at the trade deadline, but Demps said no.

The Boston Celtics can get involved in the Davis sweepstakes in the summer after Kyrie Irving opts out of his 2019-20 player option.
