The New Orleans Pelicans posted a huge win on Monday, as they were able to defeat a playoff-contending Utah Jazz side, 115-112, after a hard-fought encounter. Following the victory, Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry appeared to struggle to answer a simple question asked by a reporter. As it turns out, the 64-year-old coach had a couple of celebratory beers and was hilariously honest about it.

What makes this clip even more hilarious is the fact that Gentry was trying his best to answer the query as professionally and as sober as possible. Unfortunately for him, it seems that the alcohol had gotten into his head a bit, and it was pretty obvious. However, Gentry could not have handled it any better, and the way he admitted his “crime” was actually quite endearing.

We will need to cut Gentry a lot of slack here, as there was definitely some cause for celebration. His game plan on the evening worked to perfection, as the Pelicans were able to successfully upset the Jazz to score an unlikely away victory.

New Orleans also did this with want-away superstar Anthony Davis playing just 22 minutes of action, although he did still contribute 15 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and three blocks.

With the Pelicans currently a ways away from the playoff picture in the West, there is no longer much to play for this season. This gives Gentry a bit of room to take a more relaxed approach, sans the pressure of making it to the postseason.

The team will, however, have a very busy summer, as they will try to squeeze out every bit of value they can out of Davis and his imminent trade deal.
