Remember how people used to burn the jerseys of the superstars who leave their favorite teams? That's not the case for a New Orleans Pelicans fan. In an Instagram video shared by @houseofhighlights, a supporter of the Pelicans used almost all of Anthony Davis' jerseys to thank him for all that he's ‘done' for the franchise since requesting the trade back in February.

Since Davis publicly requested a trade from the Pels, there have been some major changes from within the franchise. They have fired Dell Demps as their general manager and replaced him with former Brooklyn Nets assistant GM Trajan Langdon. NOLA also brought in former Cleveland Cavaliers GM David Griffin to become the team's vice president. Lastly, the Pelicans hired former WNBA star Swin Cash for a senior front-office position. The three new executives of New Orleans have earned good reputations from around the league.

Then in last month's draft lottery, the Pelicans were lucky enough to land the first overall pick, and they are expected to select collegiate sensation Zion Williamson in next week's draft.

Then, during the weekend, the Pelicans have officially traded Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers, and they got a ton of assets in return. New Orleans acquired Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart; three young talented prospects who were once part of the Purple and Gold's celebrated young core. In addition, they got three future first round picks from the deal as well.

Davis' request for a trade has turned the Pelicans from a playoff team to a rebuilding franchise. However, with all the moves that they've made, from the executives that they hired to the players and assets that they have acquired from the trade, it is safe to say that AD's departure isn't as devastating for the city and its fans.
