Detroit Pistons star Andre Drummond is having another monster year as he continues to establish himself as one of the premier big men in the league. However, perhaps the most surprising aspect of his breakthrough season is the fact that he has significantly improved his free throw shooting.

As a matter of fact, Drummond is actually shooting at an astonishing clip of 82 percent during clutch situations.

Once considered as his Achilles heel, Drummond has obviously worked long and hard on this particular aspect of his game. By doing so, he has single-handedly destroyed the hack-a-Drummond strategy — especially in the clutch.

Now in his seventh season in the league, the 25-year-old is currently putting up 17.4 points (on 52.9 percent shooting), 15.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.7 steals, 1.7 blocks, and 2.2 turnovers in 33.0 minutes per ballgame. Most of these numbers are career-high marks for Drummond, but again, the most remarkable is his improvement from the charity stripe.

A career 44.0 percent shooter from the line, Drummond is currently shooting at 57.3 percent from the line this season. While this is a bit of a dip from his 60.5 percent clip from the previous year, it is still 13.3 percent better than his career average. This just proves that last season's improvement was no fluke.

Thanks in huge part to Drummond's consistently reliable play throughout the season, the Pistons are currently 31-31 and are sitting on the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference. The race for the final three playoff spots in the East looks like it's going to go down the wire so Drummond and company still have a lot of work to do before they are finally able to book their place in the postseason.
