It wasn't the Los Angeles Lakers or the Charlotte Hornets, but the Detroit Pistons were the team that finally fulfilled Lavar Ball's quest to have all three of his sons on NBA rosters. LiAngelo Ball signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Detroit Pistons, meaning he's going to have to fight for a spot on the team.

On the daily Locked On Pistons Podcast, host Matt Schoch reacts to LiAngelo Ball signing with Detroit and wonders if Pistons GM Troy Weaver has another motivation for the signing.

Matt Schoch: I have no expectation that LiAngelo Ball plays a minute with the Detroit Pistons, to be honest. Although with COVID and injuries who knows what roster situations are going to look like especially mid-season with a team that's probably going to struggle and will be handing out minutes to anyone.

I'm not going to get all worked up about this. I'm not a big Ball Family guy but I'm looking forward to seeing what the young man can do and if he can help out now or is this with one of those personal favors kind of thing. Is this an angle for Troy Weaver to get in good with the Ball family? I don't know. I think that might be looking a little bit too much into it. Maybe it's possible. Maybe Troy's got his eyes on Lonzo or LaMelo down the road, but that will be something we'll figure out in time. For now, we'll see if LiAngelo Ball can get in on some preseason Pistons games, and maybe we'll see what he looks like in live NBA action someday.
