Pokemon Unite will soon integrate a paid monthly membership that comes with exclusive perks for subscribers.

As reported by Serebii, TiMi Studio recently unveiled the first-ever Pokemon Unite Membership that rewards subscribers with exclusive items and perks. Here’s a full list of items and perks subscribers will receive:

  • Holowear of the Month
  • Two Free License Trials
  • Two Holowear License Trials a week
  • 10% Discount on Trainer Fashion
  • 40 free Gems daily

As of the moment, there aren’t any details regarding when TiMi will implement the monthly subscription. Pokemon Unite will remain a free-to-play game so players shouldn’t worry about any mandatory subscriptions. Pokemon Unite's next Battle Pass has just arrived as well, which would mean that hardcore players will have to ready their wallets this month.

The monthly subscription implemented in Pokemon Unite on top of an active Battle Pass is a bit concerning. Not too long ago, players were already complaining about the game being pay-to-win. This is because of the item enhancers that boost the stats of the player’s Pokemon in-game. The only way to acquire item enhancers is through the use of Aeos Tickets which so happens to be purchasable with real money. Players who spend real money will acquire Aeos Gems that can be used to purchase Aeos Tickets for item enhancers.

With that being said, Gems acquired through the monthly subscription are usable to purchase Aeos Tickets. This also means that members of the subscription will have an upper hand over regular players. Hardcore players will surely use this as an opportunity to further up their advantage, but we can imagine this news not sitting well with the rest of the player base. Hopefully, the paid monthly membership won’t end up killing the game.

Pokemon Unite is available on the Nintendo Switch console and Android and iOS devices.
