Although the Stanley Cup Final is underway, other teams across the league are making some moves of their own. On Friday, the Nashville Predators gained a new majority owner in former Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam. However, there is a little twist to his ownership of the team for now.

According to NHL.com, “[Bill] Haslam is expected to become a minority owner in the next few months; within the next few years, through a multi-phased purchase transaction, Haslam will become the club's majority owner.” So, he's technically a minority owner for now but will eventually become the majority owner of the Predators.

This is exciting for the Nashville franchise. Not everyone agrees with Bill Haslam's politics during his tenure as Governor. However, based on the results he produced for the state of Tennessee, he might be able to help the Predators become a more serious contender down the road.

Nashville has come close to playing for the Stanley Cup, but so far no cigar. Although, the roster is set up nicely as the team is likely a playoff contender next season. The front office will need to make some adjustments, but the future is bright for the Predators. Especially now with Bill Haslam in line to become the majority owner in the coming years.

Look for the Predators to make some noise now that a new majority owner is lined up. Haslam will want to implement his plan on the franchise and it could spur fantastic results. We'll see how it plays out, but Nashville fans should feel good about this move.
