The Los Angeles Rams are looking to bolster their offensive line ahead of the 2019 season, and general manager Les Snead is hoping to find some talent in this year’s draft. The Rams lost Rodger Saffold to the Tennessee Titans once the free agent market opened up and John Sullivan is a free agent.
Considering how high-powered the Rams offense is, the offensive line needs to get to protect quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley. Snead’s mindset is focused on the offensive line and getting his offense some added support.
“It will be a good year to try to get another quality OL that you can hopefully redshirt. The goal is to get younger.”
Ahead of next week’s draft, the Rams are projected to snag an offensive lineman with their 31st overall pick. Oklahoma’s Cody Ford and Texas A&M’s Erik McCoy are targets for the Rams in the first round, so it’ll be a matter of preference and who they think will benefit the team for the future.
Snead has stated the team does not mind waiting it out on a prospect if it will help the line down the road, in other words, their first-round pick likely won’t be an instant starter. The Rams possess one of the more complete rosters in the league, but the offensive line’s cohesiveness is not the same after this year’s free agency. Considering how crucial the position is for a team, it can’t hurt Los Angeles to use several picks on the line and hope they get great value ahead of the new season.
