President Donald Trump is continuing to receive a lot of criticism for the comments he made against professional athletes, who have demonstrated their protest against different social issues the country is currently facing. It stemmed from his recent statements where he questioned their rights to voice out their thoughts, which has drawn mixed reactions from the public, and withdrawing the invite he made to the Golden State Warriors to visit the White House.

Now, another member of the NBA community, Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey, has chimed in on the conversation. He said he it hurt even more that the comments came from the POTUS himself, as athletes also have their rights, including freedom of speech.

A number of players and coaches have shared their true feelings about Trump’s recent message to the NFL, as well as the NBA during Media Day sessions on Monday. While basketball was still the main topic during interviews, many of them were asked about the issue, and they did not shy away from stating their opinions.

With the controversial nature of the topic, coupled with how athletes have been outspoken the past few years, it can be expected that there will be more of them who will speak their minds. It will be very interesting to see who they are and what demonstrations they will do, and if the league office will ultimately step in to mediate in the situation.
