Toronto Raptors All-Star power forward Pascal Siakam really struggled in the second round of the 2020 playoffs against the Boston Celtics and was the subject of some jokes on social media, something Sacramento Kings veteran Kent Bazemore isn't happy about.
In the seven-game series versus the Celtics, Siakam averaged just 14.9 points and shot 38.2 percent from the field and a woeful 12.5 percent from beyond the arc.
After Toronto was eliminated by Boston, social media wasn't very kind to Siakam:
They love you when you’re winning… but when you’re not, you’re the target of racists and racism.
This is a reminder that Pascal Siakam is a human being.
Racism kills and hurts. This is ugly. garbage. pic.twitter.com/GZd8V0dCir

Once Kent Bazemore saw all of the Pascal Siakam hate on Twitter, he went to bat for the Raptors wing by stating that Toronto wouldn't have even made the playoffs in the first place had Siakam not played really well during the regular season.
Bro y’all going to back off Siakam! He’s one of the main reasons they were there in the first place! Keep working bro! Block that noise!!!

1) it’s hard as hell to win in this league.
2) it’s an investment
3) teams are always looking to put the best guys possible around a “star”
4) too much talent in this league to count anyone out
5) don’t let your insecurities place a ceiling on others
6) #BlockThatNoise— Kenny Baze (@24Bazemore) September 12, 2020
It's always great to see NBA players supporting each other. While Siakam no doubt struggled in the Celtics series, some of the things people have been saying about him are not okay.
Knowing the type of competitor and worker Siakam is, the Raptors can certainly expect him to improve over the offseason and come back next season as a more polished player. The swingman has improved his stats every single season he's been in the NBA, so odds are that will continue moving forward.
The Raptors, though, have some tough decisions to make this offseason, as three key players become free agents: Fred VanVleet, Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka. It will be interesting to see what Raptors president Masai Ujiri decides to do.
