The Toronto Raptors became the eighth team in the NBA to secure a deal for an ad patch on its jerseys. After the 76ers broke the ice with the StubHub sponsorship way back in May of last year, six more teams joined in.

The Kings signed a deal with Blue Diamond Almonds, Celtics with GE, Nets with Infor, Jazz with Qualtrics, Cavaliers with Goodyear, and the Magic with Disney.

Sun Life will use their patch not only to promote their company, but also to promote the fight against diabetes. This is similar to the move done by the tech company Qualtricks, who used their patch to promote the “5 For The Fight” campaign, which is involved with cancer research.

In a similar move to this, Goodyear's deal with the Cavs included a $1 million donation to public schools in Akron, Ohio.
