Toronto Raptors rookie forward Scottie Barnes has made a big splash in the NBA just over a month into his pro career. On Wednesday, he added another accomplishment to his resume.

The Raptors were on the road Wednesday, playing in Memphis against the Grizzlies. With the clock winding down in the first quarter, Barnes pulled up from just beyond half court and swished the buzzer beater.

Barnes was drafted 4th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft. He came out of the gates firing this season. Barnes scored in double digits the first eight games of his career, with the Brooklyn Nets eventually holding him to eight points a couple of weeks ago.

He dropped at least 17 points in seven of his first 13 games. However, things have slowed up a bit lately. Entering Wednesday, he was just four for his last 19 shooting from the field.

Luckily for the Raptors, he has found other ways to contribute. Barnes has shown the ability to be a plus defender, a very good rebounder and a decent assist man.

Because of his all-around game, he has made enough noise to garner Rookie of the Year attention.

Cavs big man Evan Mobley is out for a couple more weeks with a sprained knee, but fellow rookie Cade Cunningham has been coming on lately. It will be interesting to see how that race plays out.

Meanwhile, the Raptors hot start has turned cold. They have lost seven of the last nine games entering the game against the Grizzlies.
