The Detroit Red Wings received big-time goals from Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat on Wednesday night. Their goals helped tie the game against the Minnesota Wild. However, Detroit soon fell apart. The Wild scored four goals in the final frame to skate away with a home-ice victory.

After the game, DeBrincat joined Bally Sports Detroit's Trevor Thompson for a postgame interview. Thompson asked the Red Wings star what he saw during the team's third-period collapse. And the Michigan native was rather straightforward with his assessment.

“I think all game we didn't do a good job of managing the puck. We had way too many turnovers,” Alex DeBrincat told Thompson on Wednesday night. “I think we gave them all they had. We gave them all their chances, and we got to be better.”

How the Red Wings can break their slump, per Alex DeBrincat

Thompson went on to ask the Red Wings star how he believes the team can break out of this skid. Detroit has now lost nine of their last 11 games. And their recent form has knocked the Winged Wheel out of a playoff spot.

In DeBrincat's eyes, the team is “too fancy” right now. And he believes that has led to their turnover problems as of late. “Our defense has not been great,” he told Thompson after the loss to the Wild. “We're not really doing the little things right. It starts with us and we have to work hard each game.”

Therein lies the main point for DeBrincat. The Michigan native believes Detroit is better when they outwork their opponents rather than trying to out-skill them. “That's what made us successful the first 25 games of the season,” he continued.

Overall, Alex DeBrincat believes it takes just one game for this skid to come to an end. If Detroit can put together a game where they get back to what worked, they can build from there. “We've played the right way for most of the season… We have to work harder,” he said.

DeBrincat, Patrick Kane, and the Red Wings are back in action again on Friday night. They return home to take on a Nashville Predators team that enters Friday's game having lost three of their last four games.
