With the Washington Redskins notably firing former head coach Jay Gruden midway through the 2019-20 regular season, the lowly NFC East franchise then turned to interim head coach Bill Callahan, who previously served as the team's assistant head coach and offensive line coach.

With the Redskins season now coming to an abrupt close as Washington never even flirted with the possibility of reaching the postseason this time around, Callahan does not want his time in our nation's capital to come to an end.

The Redskins are currently 3-12 overall while the 63-year-old Callahan has led Washington to a 3-7 record over the course of his 10 regular-season games at the helm. While his time as the Redskins leader along the sideline hasn't gone extremely well, things certainly got better in Washington since Callahan took over. It is also worth noting that he does indeed have previous experience as an NFL head coach as Callahan served as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders for a few years back in the early 2000s. His 18–24 combined record as an NFL head coach currently gives Callahan a lifetime winning percentage of .429.

Callahan has also served as an assistant coach for various collegiate football teams in addition to the Redskins, Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys. Callahan has remained in the Redskins organization since 2015, as he has continued to aid the team's offensive line in several different capacities.

Callahan and the Redskins will close out the 2019-20 regular season against the rival Cowboys in Week 17.
