The Washington Redskins hired Ron Rivera as their next head coach in hopes he can instill a winning culture in the locker room and a former Redskins player believes he's the right guy for the job. Nearly a month after hiring Rivera, Darrell Green thinks Rivera will turn things around in Washington.

“I believe in him,” Green said, via Redskins.com. “I like the man. He talked about [being successful] on the field and off the field, and we need that in Washington, D.C.”

Green spent 20 seasons with the Redskins from 1983 to 2002. Therefore, the Hall of Fame cornerback has been through the ups and downs of the Redskins' organization. Since retiring, Green has kept close tabs on Washington and what the team does.

Of course, Green was part of the Washington team that won the franchise's last Super Bowl in 1991. After experiencing it himself before, the legendary cornerback believes this could be the best season for Washington since 1991.

Over the past 29 years, Washington has gone through 11 different head coaches (including Rivera). Now, the Redskins are hoping that Rivera is the guy that can get them back on track.

Prior to accepting the Redskins job, Rivera was the head coach of the Carolina Panthers from 2011-2019. During his time with the Panthers, Carolina went 76-63-1 and made a Super Bowl appearance in 2015.

Besides his on the field success, Rivera is known to take how players conduct themselves off of the field seriously. The choice to hire Rivera was a positive one for the Redskins and Green believes he'll fix the franchise sooner rather than later.
