The Washington Redskins made some substantial changes to the roster this NFL offseason. Among their notable additions was that of former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick.

The acquisition brings some much-needed experience to the Redskins' secondary. According to Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, wide receiver Josh Doctson says Scandrick has already started to make an impression on the team.

“The first thing I saw from Scan was that he’s a veteran, man,” Doctson said.

“It’s good to have guys like that. We have a huge veteran group over on that side. We’ve got some very talented young guys, so I’m just really enjoying everything he’s able to teach me without even speaking — just how he guards me and seeing different perspective before we get out there on game day.”

It is encouraging to see that both the offensive and defensive players have already begun to learn from Scandrick. It goes without saying that going up against a veteran starter in practice will pay huge dividends for Doctson's development. More importantly, he adds a certain sense of stability to Washington's defense.

Scandrick played a significant role in the Cowboys' defense throughout his career. Unfortunately, he is coming off a bit of a down year after finishing the 2017 campaign with 38 tackles and three pass defenses while failing to record an interception in 11 games. That said, he is hoping to take advantage of his fresh start in Washington. Despite his struggles last season, Scandrick should still be able to lock up the starting job opposite cornerback Josh Norman.
